Hello URBANARCHITECT,
Our suggestion is to install this template using quick-start installation package, after installing the package your site will look exact like our demo preview page it will be easy for you to make changes in the content, preview all parameters and settings, the package installation will save days of your time. The quick-start package is actually the template documentation. If by some reason you can't install it on your live server you can install on some demo server or demo folder and then preview all settings.
The package should be installed like regular Joomla installation, here you can find some more info: https://www.astemplates.com/joomla-template-documentation/436-002085
ok, I uploaded the quick-start package but got this error message:
Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file.
The Joomla package cannot be installed through the Extension Manager. Please use the Joomla! Update component to update Joomla.
your instructing say to use the "extensions manager" which i did and it does not work..
the quickstart method would require me to unload joomla and just use the quickstart?
is the issue that I already installed the template. Do I need to add a plug in or something?
I dont mind unloading joomla and starting over but that seems extreme.

Hello URBANARCHITECT,
Via the extension manager you can upload template only, the quickstart package should be installed like regular Joomla installation. If you are going to install the template only you will need to install and config all extensions and plugins manually, it will take a lot of time.
If by some reason you can't install it on your live server you can install on some demo server or demo folder and then preview all settings.
I removed joomla from my site, and then re-installed the as-002085 template quckstart, and then had to revise my site to accommodate for this. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM. your templates advertise that they are ready out of the box, that is untrue.
Additionally another problem has come up.
I have tried to modify the articles and modules in my template and they are all locked.
The options are grayed out.

Select: All, None | Expand: All, None

why cant you provide a better product ready for consumers?
This is the second template I have purchased from you and are having nothing but problems....why cant i just open the slider and add my images and text?
this is the message I am getting:
The AS Article Newsflash module displays a fixed number of Articles from specific Category or set of Categories.
The module has more options than default Joomla Newsflash module.
Visit our site for more extensions and templates: http://www.astemplates.com.
The superfish drop down menu does not work on my site, but it's the same for other modules i've found around. There might be a conflict from a module or/and a component, but it does not show any message when debuging is activated.
How can i trace and solve this plz ?

Hello FESPIE31,
Try to disable modules one by one in case to find the problematic one.
Hi there. I've solved my precedent problem, which was unexpected. I though that subcategories were linked to the main category, but it was not. I simply had to create them in the menu to see them shown correctly.
But i have another strange and interesting problem. Any article link clicked when i'm positionned in the home link would no respect the joomla rule to only show it in the homepage, even if it is an other category.
When i'm showing an article by clicking on it in an other position in the menu, it will show correctly. But never when you click on it's link everywhere on the homepage it could be.
What may be the problem and how to solve it ?

Hello FESPIE31,
Sorry, not quite understand, do you want to see your article on the home page only or in a separate page?
Sorry for my english, i'm a froggy from France :-)
Let's try to explain this again.
When i put the AS Article Newsflash (advanced) in the frontpage (home), and if i click on any of the 3 articles "read more" button i have choosed which are configured to show only there, the module does not disapear while showing it's content.
The problem does not appear if you click on any article of any other menu link showing a specified category.
You can see it running at https://www.citoyen2france.org
Any idea of what i'm doing wrong or did not understood ? If the module is supposed to show only in the frontpage home, why would it refuses to disapear while show the entire article ?

Hello FESPIE31,
You have to create a menu and then menu items for each of your article, after that you will be able to manage module assignment. You do not need to publish the created menu.
"You have to create a menu and then menu items for each of your article, after that you will be able to manage module assignment. You do not need to publish the created menu."
I followed your recommendations, and it still doesn't work.
I created a main menu link to all articles in a different link category i did not activate.
http://prntscr.com/r8birh
I've said to the AS article to only show in home.
http://prntscr.com/r8bj42
The breadcrumb shows the correct link to the category when you click on any article.
http://prntscr.com/r8bjih
It still shows the page like if it was the homepage when you click on any of the articles. All modules activated only for "home" are shown while they shouldn't.
http://prntscr.com/r8bjy9
I've solved the problem differently, and you have to link to the articles category in any of other main menu item. I don't wanted that, so i guess it's a problem.
I had to create a link to the articles category in the main menu and activate it.
http://prntscr.com/r8bpje
And then, and only then, it shows it correctly.
I don't know if this can be called a "bug", but i'm quite sure users could appreciate you modify your script to get all the articles published and their category in account. Some other superfish menus are also using the Category titles, so it also uses the breadcrumbs.
It's nice to have the option to create links independents of the joomla structure, but for my point of view, it's a reverse mind. You should offer both solutions with a selectable item in the module configuration that would solve this, and offering to your customer the possibility to not rebuild all their sub-categories in the menu, using it's structure. And also to implement taking in account other articles not in the menu or menu categories.
How do I update the template. When I try to install the template it says: The template is already installed do I want to install the same template again.
Which I want to update it to the latest version, but it doesn't give me an option to actually answer the question. I am running version 2.1.0. I have a bunch of customer work on it as well so don't want to lose any of that.
Hi,
I tried the free version of 2085 but did not like it so bought the full version.
1) Before the full version package was installed, the menu did not look right (it was stacked and either off to the left or in the centre of the page) but the page links all worked and opened the right pages.
After installing the full version and enabling the Superfish menu, the menu looks perfect but all the page links give a 404msg. Nothing seems to correct this and I have hit the limit of my patience.
2) The sequence slider on the home page does not work. Images stack instead of run parallel and don't move. There is a big black background that takes over the page with the images inside it no matter the size of the images; the bigger the image, the bigger the black block but even 150x150 has it. There were conflicting instructions on how to set this up so I have created 3 custom modules as as-slider then placed an image in each. This is the only way the images even showed up; trying it through the articles (different instructions) only resulted in the spinning wheel of death as it tried to load forever. I have disabled this but will enable it so you can see what I mean.

The template can be updated by replacing the edited files only, unfortunately Joomla does not have other option, the list of updated files you can find here: https://www.astemplates.com/joomla-template-news/436-002085

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
1. Try to disable Search Engine Friendly URLs under your Global Configuration settings in your Joomla admin panel.
2. Did you check the slider documentation?
