I have bought the premium version but there are no slider controls. I have removed the template and reinstalled it. Still no slider controls. Can you assist?

I used the upload and install in the extensions manager to upload and install the zipped quick start as I can't unzip it manually if I upload a zipped file.

You can't install the quick-start package via extension manager. A quickstart is basically a fully functional and customized Joomla! package containing the default Joomla installation package, all modules, choosen template and plugins with all the configurations and data in one place. The sample data in the quickstart package is also personalized according to the template and is much different to the sample data found in the default Joomla package.
