Hello ANVERSCH,
We think some of files were corrupted during the update, it happens sometime, please download the latest Joomla version from http://www.joomla.org/download.htm website, upload the package on your server and unzip it, it override all Joomla files, after you have to delete 'installation' folder.
Our suggestion is to perform backup before you will override Joomla files.

'Our Mission' is a page heading which can be removed in the Joomla admin panel -> Menus -> Main Menu -> Home -> Page Display -> Page Heading parameter.
