hi, was updating the template with latest version and got an error saying :
" Extension Install: Another template is already using the named directory ... Are you trying to install the same extension again? "
Do I not just upload and install over the top of the previous installation ?
thanks, P

Hello PABS111,
The template can be updated by uploading the changed files or all template files on your server via FTP, unfortunately Joomla doesn't have an option for updating templates from Joomla admin panel.

hi - I've just tried to install the current version of 2066 template over the top of a previously installed ( but older ) version of the same template. I couldn't find any information about updating templates either here or at joomla docs, so I figured it must just be straight over the top.
Anyway, it didn't install because of the previous version being there, with the message "another folder exists with the same name" etc....so could you please confirm the correct method for updating a template please ? and could you please advise on what to do next, given I've already made one unsuccessful attempt ?
much appreciated, P

Hi again - Surprisingly there's very little info around online, in forums and docs, on updating templates. I know usually you just have to use the joomla update function, but sometimes there are some templates that have special needs.
Would be good if you included some template updating info here for astemplate members ( like me ).
Anyway, I tried updating again and got the same response :
"Warning
Extension Install: Another template is already using the named folder. Are you trying to install the same extension again?
and
Error
Error installing template"
The previous version is 002066 template, vers 1.1.0.
I'm guessing this is a new version bug ?
Thx, P

PS could you please remove the file path name from my previous post please ? I just copy / pasted and totally forgot to remove it.
Much appreciated, P

Another PS - I also haven't made any template, site or core file changes yet, as I thought I'd install the updated template first.
I also just paid $95AUD for a 90 day club membership, so a little disappointed that the template didn't install / update. ( I've been building joomla sites for nearly 10 years now, by the way ).

Hello PABS111,
Joomla templates cannot be updated via Joomla Extension manager, Joomla does not have such option, it can be done only by uploading updated template files on your server via FTP, the list of updated files you can see here:
http://www.astemplates.com/joomla-template-news/238-002066
Please do not forget about backups before making any updates.

hi - thanks for that, though I'm sure I just read some rocket theme forum admins saying you can use the joomla function for one of their template updates.
No matter, I'll do it manually. So I just find the files that have been updated in the zip file with the updated 002066 version in it, then upload to their locations onsite ? ( after site & file backups of course )
Only 3 files ? ....the extensions too ?
Thx

Hello PABS111,
If your current template version is 1.1.0 you have to replace files from the releases 1.2.0 and 1.3.0, also you will need to install the updated extensions, the extensions can be installed via Joomla extensions manager.

Ok all done. No issues. I noticed an minor design issue or two along the way and I'll pass them along shortly.
I must have been remembering doing new installs, I really thought I was remembering updating templates using the extension updater. I guess not. Has been some long gaps in between site work though.
But thanks, always a relief to update / upgrade and not have any issues in the outcome.

hi - well it seems that this template isn't bootstrap3, as I had thought, and the app I'm using isn't very compatible with bootstrap2. It's the sole reason for building this site. It's a crowdfunding app for joomla from ITPrism.
So, do you have any suggestions ?
What are the chances of upgrading this template with Bootstrap3 ( and like, pretty much, now, if it would probably have to be )
And, which joomla templates available here are bootstrap3 please ? ( I dread the thought of having to start all over )
thanks, P
