I am trying to install the quickstart. I get the following warning message: JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file.
and the error message:Path does not have a valid package.

Yes. I tried loading it through the Joomla installation manager.
That is where I get the error messages:

I also tried loading it through the FTP site. Neither way works.

In your case you have to install the template only, all settings and parameters you can preview by installing quick-start package in some demo folder.
